These instructions describe how to connect to your web account with WS_FTP Pro. For further information on using WS_FTP Pro, please see this tutorial. Note: To access webpub or your account from home or your dorm, you can download a free FTP program.
Double-click the WS_FTP Pro icon on the desktop. In the Configured Sites window, click webpub. Click Connect.

You will be prompted to enter your account password. Once connected you will see your web account in the right (Remote Site) window. If this is the first time you've accessed your web account, there will be no files there yet!
Double-click the WS_FTP Pro icon on the desktop. In the Configured Sites window, click Quick Connect. Enter webpub.allegheny.edu for the hostname, and enter the UserID and password for the web account. Click Advanced Properties...

On the Startup tab of the Preferences for _Quick_Site window, enter the location of the group or department web account in the Remote Site Folder area. The location will have the form /Partition2/dept/xxx or /Partition2/group/xxx where you replace xxx with the department or group network login name. If you requested that your URL end with a word that is different from the login name when you filled out the web account request form, enter that word instead. If you are unsure, just enter /Partition2/dept/ or /Partition2/group/. You will be able to browse to the correct folder from there. Click OK.

If you are not working in a Public Lab, you may wish to click Save so that you can access this web account in future without having to enter all of the connection information. Otherwise, click Connect to connect to this site.

If you have clicked Save, you will be prompted for a name in the Site Folders window. Select the Sites folder and enter a name of your choosing in the Name box. Click OK.

You can connect to this site now and in the future by selecting the site name from Configured Sites window and clicking Connect.

Enter your password if you didn't check the Save password box. You should see your web account now in the Remote Site (right) window. If this is the first time you have accessed your web account, it will be empty.
Note: If you did not properly set the location of your group or department web account in the Advanced Properties window, you may see a file labeled denied in the Remote Site window. To access your group or department site you should click the ChgDir button on the Remote Site side.

In the Input window that opens, enter /Partition2/dept/xxx or /Partition2/group/xxx where you replace xxx with the department or group network login name. If you requested that your URL end with a word that is different from the login name when you filled out the web account request form, enter that word instead. If you are unsure, just enter /Partition2/dept/ or /Partition2/group/. You will be able to browse to the correct folder from there. Click OK.

You should now see your department or group web account in the right (Remote Site) window, though it will be empty if this is the first time you've accessed the site.
To avoid having to change directories like this in future, click the Options button at the bottom of the WS_FTP Pro window.

In the WS_FTP Pro Properties window click Save current folders as connection folders and click OK. Next time you connect to this site you will automatically go to your department or group web account in the Remote Site window.
