Getting your website online
Inserting Text and Changing Page Properties:
Open a new window by clicking File>New and start typing your
text. It's that simple! You can align your text to the left, center,
or middle, change font using the "Text" option on the toolbar.
Please notice that every time you press the Enter key, Dreamweaver skips
down the page two lines to create a new paragraph. But if you want to
go one line directly below the one you just typed, press Shift+Enter
to insert a line break.
Consider these suggestions when inserting text on your web-site:
· Any text is better read if it is left-justified with headings
and titles that stand out.
· Provide generous amount of white space to separate blocks of
information (DoNotCrowdTheText).
· Convert sentences containing serial items to lists.
· Organize complex information into tables.
· Reserve italics or upper case letters for adding emphasis and
to titles only.
Changing Page Properties:
Page Properties allow you to change your page background color, text
color, and colors for your links.
Select Modify>Page Properties. The Page Properties dialog
box opens as shown on the picture below. In this dialog box you can
choose to change the background color, text color, make your background
as a transparent image, and set a title of your page. Title may contain
spaces and should be descriptive. When the user bookmarks your page,
your page title will appear on the user's list of bookmarks.
Consider these suggestions when changing the Page properties:
The "visual appeal" should be used for a reason. Text borders
and fancy backgrounds may look great but make text harder to read and
graphics harder to see.
