Inserting Images:
Before inserting any image on your site, consider the following issues:
Copyrights
Make sure the image you want to use is not copyrighted. Most of the
images you see on the web are copyrighted (including the Allegheny College
site images) even if there is no copyright disclaimer next to the image.
Always obtain author's permission if you want to use the copyrighted
image on your site. The good new is - there are many sites that offer
copyright
free images.
Image Size
The larger your image size, the longer it takes for a viewer to download
your page (especially people with modem connections). The recommended
image download time is 3 seconds. If an image of a photo you want to
include to your website is too large, it may need to be edited. For
photos, recommended width is no more than 600 pixels otherwise the user
has to scroll to view all of your image. Use this tutorial
to learn how to edit images for the web.
Click the Insert Image icon located on the Objects panel. The Select Image Source dialog box opens as shown in the picture below and allows you to browse to the images you previously saved in your site folder. Choose one of the images and click Select.

Consider these suggestions when including images in your web site:
Be conservative when including moving (animated) images. They can be
fun and creative but can distract the user from the content, can cause
frustration and even visual fatigue. Navigational text should never
blink. If the reason you are using the animated images is to get the
users attention, use one attention-getter per page, don't overwhelms
the user with too many moving objects.
