Getting your website online
Getting Your Page Online:
The Allegheny College's webpub server will host your website. In order to get access to the webpub server, you have to request a webpub account.
Your website files should be uploaded to the webpub account using the
FTP
protocol. Another option for uploading your site is to use the Dreamweaver
Site Window to connect to a webpub server. If uploading a group
site, refer to the following tutorial.
Your webpage address is:
For students:
http://webpub.allegheny.edu/students/ followed by the first initial
of your last name (/a/), then your student user ID (Example, Karen Abbot's
web page address would be http://webpub.allegheny.edu/students/a/abbotk)
For faculty and employees:
http://webpub.allegheny.edu/employee/ followed by the first initial
of your first name (/a/), then your employee user ID (Example, Professor
Allison Abbot's web site address would be http://webpub.allegheny.edu/employee/a/aabbot)
People who wish to view your site while on or off campus, would have
to type the addresses above unless you
request for your page to be linked to the main Allegheny College web
page. Please contact the Allegheny
College Web Master to make that request.
Now remember, every time you make a change to any page of your website,
that page has to be uploaded again to the webpub server.
