Save yourself recreation time when teaching the same course using WebCT by restoring the tools created the last time you taught the course.
The first step is to have downloaded a back up of the course taught in a previous semester. See online tutorial at http://help.allegheny.edu/tutorials/webct/create_backup.php
If you do not have a back-up of the previous course you wish to use you will have to recreate the entire course. Remember to create a back up at the end of the semester so you will not have to do it again.
Request a New Course at: http://training.allegheny.edu/ACCS_Forms/ReqCourse.htm. You will need the course name, course number and section, and semester you will teach it to request a course.
When you receive confirmation of creation from the system administrator open the new course and click the control panel button:
Click the Manage Course link:
The Manage Course page loads.
Under Backup Course, click on upload backup.
The Upload Backup page will load.
On this page you will need to click browse and find the backup file on your hard drive and click open.
With the file listed in the Filename field click Upload.

After the Backup Course page uploads you will be brought to the following window:
2. Select the backup file by its radial button, and then select Restore (keep students). (you could choose Restore (replace students) but then you would have to add all your current students to your class again.)
You will be warned that you are overwriting all course content.
Click OK
You will receive a Success Message click continue
Your blank course has the tools and content that was contained in the back up.
You can delete the backup course from the WebCT Server
Remember to download the course at the end of the semester so that you have a new backup to restore next semester.
