You can sync your Web Calendar with any PDA which uses the Palm Desktop** application, in a two-step process: sync your Web Calendar with the Palm Desktop and then sync the Palm Desktop with your PDA.
Before you attempt to sync your Web Calendar with the Palm Desktop, check that
Once both of these requirements have been met, follow the steps below to synchronize your Web Calendar with the Palm Deskop. Note that only events from your own Web Calendar will sync with the Palm Desktop. Events from embedded calendars do not sync.
Before you attempt a synchronization for the first time be sure that Palm Desktop is installed and configured on your computer and that you have already done a sync between your PDA and the Palm Desktop. Please see the documentation that came with your PDA if you have any questions about this process.
To begin a sync between your Web Calendar and the Palm Desktop, open Intellisync by double-clicking on the Intellisync icon on your desktop or clicking Start > Programs > WebEvent > Intellisync for WebEvent > Intellisync for WebEvent from the Start Menu.
If this is the first time you have used Intellisync, or if you wish to change any of your Intellisync settings, click Setup.
Enter your Web Calendar User Name and Password in the appropriate boxes of the Configuration Settings window. Enter http://webcalendar.allegheny.edu/cgi-bin/SyncController.cgi in the Connection URL box. Click Configure Applications....
To synchronize events between your Web Calendar and the Palm Desktop, click Events in the WebEvent Applications window and click the Choose... button.
Select Palm Desktop in the window that opens. In the Options window that pops open, select the appropriate Palm Desktop user from the drop-down list. Click OK in the Options window. Click OK again.
If you wish to also sync your Address Book or ToDos, repeat the procedure above to set up synchronization. If desired, click the Advanced... button for some synchronization options. When you have configured the desired synchronization(s) click OK.
Back in the Configuration Settings window, click Save.
You are now ready to sync your Web Calendar with the Palm Desktop. Click the Sync button to begin the sync.
When the Sync has completed, click Exit to close Intellisync. For subsequent syncs, simply open Intellisync and click Sync, unless you need to change any sync settings.
Now that your Web Calendar and Palm Desktop have been synced you may wish to perform a sync between your PDA and Palm Desktop. Please see the documentation that came with your PDA if you have any questions about this process.
**Update Jan 2005: We have had reports that the newest version of the Palm Desktop does not sync properly with the Web Calendar. We recommend that you use version 4.01 of the Palm Desktop if you wish to be able to sync with WebCalendar. If you have difficulty finding ver 4.01 of Palm Desktop on the Palm website, please contact your instructional technologist for assistance.
