Approving Events Submitted to Your Web Calendar

If you are sharing your calendar with students, your department, or other colleagues and have also set your calendar preferences to allow event submission, then you may occassionally have some unapproved events on your calendar. Events are listed on your Web Calendar as unapproved when they are entered by someone other than yourself who has read access to your calendar. Unapproved events are not visibile to anyone other than yourself until after they have been approved. You may approve, modify, or delete any unapproved event on your calendar.

There are several ways you can be informed of unapproved events on your calendar. If you have set your calendar preferences to email public submission to an approval address, then you will receive an email each time an event is submitted to your calendar.

You will also see several clues on your summary page and calendar page that there are events awaiting approval. The Alerts icon will be present on the left of the page if there are any unapproved events on your calendar and the Unapproved Events area to the right of your summary page will list how many unapproved events are awaiting approval. An unapproved event will be listed in the appropriate area of the calendar with the word UNAPPROVED above the event.

You can see a summary of all unapproved events by clicking either the Alerts icon or the link in the Unapproved Events column. You can approve or delete any or all unapproved events from this summary screen by selecting the appropriate radio button next to the event and clicking Update.

You can also approve an event by clicking its title, either in the summary screen or from a calendar page, and selecting Approved in the Approval Status area of the Advanced tab on the Modify Event page. If approving an event in the manner, you can make any desired changes to the event before clicking the Submit button.
