You can expect to get between 40 and 120 minutes of recording time from a fully charged battery. Longer recording times are achieved by using the viewfinder instead of the LCD screen, and by recording continuously, without stops/starts, zooming, etc. A single MiniDV tape will hold about 60 minutes of video.
Remove the camera lens. Turn the power switch to Camera by pressing the small green button (A) while turning the switch.

Either open the LCD panel, by pressing the Open button, or raise the viewfinder so that you can monitor recording. Tip: For longer battery life, keep the LCD panel closed and use the viewfinder.

Begin recording by pressing the Start/Stop button (B) next to the power switch.

To stop recording, press the Start/Stop button again.
You can watch your recorded video on the LCD screen by putting the camera in VCR mode. You can also connect your camera to a TV set to watch recorded video. Details are available in the Playback tutorial.
