There are many reasons why you may want to export your finished iMovie project to a MiniDV tape. Doing so will save a high quality copy of your movie that can be played on a TV or recorded to a VHS tape. It will also give you a high quality copy of your movie that can be imported into a computer at a later date for creating a Quicktime movie or a DVD.
Before exporting your movie to the camera, load the camera with a MiniDV tape and rewind, if necessary. Connect the camera to the computer using a firewire cable and set the camera to VCR mode, as describe in the transferring video tutorial.
Open your completed project in iMovie and click File > Export... on the iMovie menu.

In the iMovie: Export window choose To Camera from the Export drop down menu, if necessary. If desired, change the default settings before clicking Export.

The camera will begin recording your movie onto the MiniDV tape. The amount of time this takes will be approximately the same as the length of your movie.
