Setting Folder Permissions in Course Resources

By default, any student who can access a folder in the course Resources area has permission to read any files in that folder. You can add to these permissions on a folder-by-folder basis, for instance to allow students to upload new files to a folder, to edit existing files, or to delete existing files.

Note that you can't set permissions on a file-by-file basis. If you have some files that should have different permissions than other files, separate those files into separate folders and set the desired permissions on each folder.

To edit permissions on a folder, go to your course Resources area and click the Permissions link next to the folder you want to edit.

click permissions

You can change any permission with a check box. Put a check in the box to grant the permission or remove a check in a box to take it away. Note that you can't take away some permissions at this level. Permissions with a check mark that isn't inside a box can't be changed, as those permissions are inherited from the main course Resources folder and can't be changed at this level. You grant permissions according the the user's Sakai role. In the example below we are adding new, revise, and delete permissions for any student who can access the folder. An explanation of these permissions is below.

When you have selected the permissions you would like to change, click Save.
