Note: If you just received a new computer or hard drive, DO NOT open Eudora before restoring your backed up Mail folder. If you did open Eudora before restoring your Mail folder, please call the Help Desk for assistance.
With Windows 2000, all personal data should be stored in C:\Home\Main\My Documents\. Files that were stored in C:\Home\Main\ on your Windows NT system should be copied to C:\Home\Main\My Documents when restoring data.
Other files you may have backed up that were stored outside C:\Home\Main on Windows NT (e.g., Internet Explorer bookmarks, Netscape bookmarks, MSOffice dictionary) are stored in a new location on your Windows 2000 hard drive. See the table below for the old and new locations.
| Program or folder | Windows NT location | Windows 2000 location | |

To restore your files, use WS_FTP Pro to connect to your account.
In the right (Remote Site) window of WS_FTP, browse to the location of your backed up files, if necessary.

In the right (Remote Site) window of WS_FTP, double click on the folder Main to open it. Select the Mail folder and any other files or folders that had been in c:\Home\Main except MyDocuments and click the left pointing arrow.

Click Yes in the dialog box that opens. This confirms that you want to transfer the highlighted files and folders.

In the right (Remote Site) window of WS_FTP, double click on the folder MyDocuments (if you had such a folder)to open it. Select all the files and folders in it and click the left pointing arrow. Click Yes in the dialog box that opens.

If you have other files to restore (e.g., Internet Explorer bookmarks): In the left (Local System) window, browse to the location where this file or folder should reside (see the table above) and in the right (Remote Site) window of WS_FTP, browse to the backup copy of each file or directory you wish to restore. Once you find a file or directory to be restored, click on it once to highlight it, and then click the left pointing arrow to send it to your local hard drive. Netscape bookmarks should not be restored this way! See the note, below.

When you have restored all the necessary files, close the connection, and click Exit.
NOTE: To restore Netscape bookmarks: First ftp the backup copy of your Netscape bookmarks to C:\Home\Main\My Documents, but DO NOT put this file in the Netscape folder. Instead of overwiting the existing Netscape bookmark file, you should import your old bookmark file into Netscape by following the instructions in our Importing Netscape Bookmarks tutorial.
