Open Outlook Express by clicking on the icon usually located next to the "Start" button on your task bar.

Next, click on "Tools" on your menu bar and scroll down to "Accounts..."

When "Accounts..." is selected, the"Internet Accounts" window will open. Select the "Add" button and click on "Mail..." This will bring you into the "Internet Connection Wizard" which will walk you through setting up your email account.

First, type your full name into the text box provided (as shown below).
Click "Next" to proceed.

Next, provide you school email address in the text area. Your email address is your first six letters of your last name then the first initial of your first name followed by "@allegheny.edu".
Example: John Smith - smithj@allegheny.edu.
Click "Next" to proceed.
The "Incoming Mail Server" should be set to POP3. The address for the "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server" should be set to "smailin" And the address for the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" should be set to "smailout" as well.
Click "Next" to proceed.

Finally, type your account name in the text labeled as such. Your account name the same as you user ID, it's your email address minus the "@allegheny.edu" portion. Example: smithj@allegheny.edu - ID = smithj. Type your default password into the text area; your default password is the forst initial of your first name, the first initial of you last name (Both lowercase!!!!) followed by the pound (#) sign, followed by you student ID minus the leading Zero (0).
Example: John Smith; Student ID# 0123456 - js#123456.
Click "Next" to proceed.
A final window will come up telling you that you have completed the setup process. Click "Finish" and begin the convenience of getting your Allegheny mail through Outlook Express
