Uploading Files on Movable Type
![]() |
If you want to put an image or a pop-up image into your entry, using the upload image tool makes the task easy. Click on the Upload File link on the left side menu and a pop-up window will open. NOTE: Files you wish to upload must be smaller than 5MB. |
Click Browse and then select the file you would like to upload. Click Open
Then next spot on the page asks where you want the file put (in either your blog archives folder or your blog folder) Moveable Type tells you the folder address if you click the (?) next to the Path names, but you don't really need them for anything.
It is recommended that you use the default settings and upload the image to your weblog folder by leaving the <local site path> field blank and click Upload.
Note: If you have a need to store the image in specific place on the server, you do so by typing the path to the folder in the <local site path> field. Again this is not recommended for the casual user.
Now MovableType will give you four options:
- See the HTML code for embedding that image elsewhere.
- See the HTML code for a pop-up image of the uploaded file.
- Create an entry with the image embedded (as shown below)
- Creating an entry that has the image as a pop-up image (as shown below)
The recommended settings are to Create a new entry using this uploaded file and Embedded Image.
The Create New Entry page will open with the HTML code for the image already in it.
You can create this entry as you would any other entry, adding pictures or additional text. And later you can edit it just the same as any other entry.
