The New Entries Page can be customized to display only the fields you regularly use.
1. On the 'Create New Entry' page there are multiple fields for content and feedback of your post.
By default the following display
- Title: Rather self explanatory, here you will enter in a short name for your blog entry.
- Primary Category: Used when you want to organize your weblog into categories for easy referencing in your archive.
- Entry Body: You will enter in your main content into this field.
- Extended Entry: This is helpful when you have an extraordinarily long entry and need to break it up or have referencing material that is best separated from the main content. The idea behind this is simple.
- Excerpt: Used when you have a page that just shows a line or two of your blog entry.
- Post Status: You can use this to either post your weblog entry immediately when you press the save button, save it to publish in the future, or schedule it to be published a later time.
- Authored On: Allows you to edit the authored date of the entry
- Basename: This is generated by Movable Type and is used for a permalink
- Text Formatting: This affects the spacing in between paragraphs of your weblog entry.
- Accept Comments: This setting allows you to turn on or off the ability for visitors to comment on your weblog entry
- Accept Trackbacks: This allows others to comment on your weblog entry by posting on their personal weblog.
- Outbound Trackbacks: This is handy when you want to comment on another persons weblog entry but want to do it by posting on your personal weblog.
2. Based on your blogging habits you can customize the fields available to you when you create a new entry. To make the changes you will need to scroll to the bottom of the Create New Entry page and click Customize the display of this page
3. In the pop up window that opens you will need to select 'Custom: show the following fields' option and then check the fields you wish to display.
Note: You will want to display the Tags field if you are interested in tagging your entries for use with Technorati.
After making your selections click Save.
