List Server List Request Form

The following is to be filled out by the Allegheny College employee responsible for the administration of the list (the list owner). Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).

Note: List name may contain ONLY number, letters, - (dash) and _ (underscore). This name will be used in the first part of the email address of the list (e.g. ecology@listserve1.allegheny.edu).

*Will this be a moderated list? If yes, all messages will go to the moderators' email address for approval before being sent out to the list members.

If this is a moderated list, enter email addresses for up to three moderators (generally the list owner is one of the moderators):

*Description: Enter a short description of your list. Include such information as topics for discussion, who can subscribe, and email address of the list (your list name followed by @listserve1.allegheny.edu). This description will be sent to new subscribers and to any user who requests information about your list.

Would you like a grace period before the list goes online? This allows people to subscribe before actually putting the list online. It will notify people that the list is not yet open for business.
Note: If you opt for a grace period, you must notify us when you are ready for the list to go online.

Would you like the list to be archived, so that postings can later be retrieved and searched?

If list is archived, how often should the archive be created?
Note: All postings to the list since the last archive are collected in one archive file. Lists which expect a large volume of email should choose to archive daily, as monthly archive files would be very large. Those which expect infrequent postings should archive yearly. Most other lists should choose monthly.

Would you like digest capability?
This will give users the option of getting summary emails, rather than receiving an email each time a user posts to the list.
