Using Eudora Pro in the Public Labs

Students and employees may use Eudora in the public labs to check their email, even if they use another program for email on their personal or office computer. When checking email in the labs, only messages that have not already been downloaded to another computer will appear. All messages that appear in the lab are left on the server and so will appear again on your personal or office computer unless you follow the procedure below to delete the message from the server.

To delete an email message you must complete ALL of the following steps:

  1. Select the email message and then click the Delete Message button located on the toolbar.
  2. From the Eudora Pro menu select Special > Empty Trash.
  3. Check your mail again, by clicking the Check Mail button on the Eudora Pro toolbar, or by selecting File > Check Mail from the menu.

Students who read their Allegheny email exclusively in public labs should be careful to follow the procedure above to delete unwanted messages in order to control the size of their email spool. Due to limited space on the mail server students are required to keep their mail spool size under 3 MB. An online form is available for students to check the size of their mail spool and account.

If you require excessive amounts of email messages, or if you have received a warning notice concerning too many email messages, please contact the Computing Help Desk in Murray Hall for further information concerning various methods to store larger amounts of email messages.

For further information about using Eudora Pro, please see the full list of Eudora tutorials.
