Using Eudora Pro's Filter to Auto-Reply by Subject

You can use Eudora Pro's Filter to automatically reply to a message based on the criteria you select. A common use of this feature is to send an out-of-office message when you are away for vacation or business travel.

Another way to use this feature is to send an auto-reply based on the subject line of the message. This can be especially useful when you know in advance what the subject line of some emails will be, for instance, if you are receiving job application emails where the advertisement gave instructions on how to address the subject line of email applications.

Before setting up your filter, create the message you would like to use in the reply as Eudora Stationery. See the Creating Stationery tutorial for details. Note that you will not get an opportunity to edit the email message before it is sent using the auto-reply, so you will want the stationery to be complete and ready for sending.

To set up the auto-reply, click Tools > Filters.

Tools > Filters

Click New to begin creating your filter.

Select Subject from the Header: drop-down. You may leave the next drop-down at contains and fill in the subject text you want to match in the text box. In the Action area, select Reply With and select the stationery you want to use from the drop-down that is next to the action.

Click File > Save to save your new filter. In the example above, all email received containing the words Job Application in the subject line will automatically get a reply using the stationery saved as application.
