Originally posted on March 31, 2008NITLE Instructional Technology Workshop Registration DeadlineFriday, April 4th is the registration deadline for the NITLE workshops on teaching students who grew up in the digital age. The workshops Teaching Digital Immigrants and Visual Literacy: Tools for Teaching and Learning with Images still have spaces available. Both workshops are full-day sessions that will be offered on May 15 and 16 respectively. Participation in these workshop is open to members of the Allegheny community and faculty, librarians, and technologists from peer colleges of the NITLE network. Visit the online registration form before Friday April 4 to reserve your place in these workshops. The registration period for the remaining instructional technology workshop remains open until a week prior to the workshop. The workshops will focus on the impact emerging technology has on liberal arts education and methodologies for taking advantage of those technologies within a liberal arts philosophy. The materials and activities of the workshop are geared to faculty and those who support instruction at liberal arts colleges with limited seats available. Participation in this workshop is open to members of the Allegheny community and NITLE Network colleges. Similar workshops in years past provided an opportunity to investigate new instructional technology and learn how those tools are being utilized by instructors at peer institutions. Originally posted on January 16, 2008Removal of Fall 2007 WebCT CoursesThe WebCT courses from Fall 2007 will be removed from the WebCT server on January 24, 2008. As part of daily server maintenance, the system administrator creates a backup of entire server which includes the individual courses on the server. While it is possible to retrieve individual courses from this server backup, it is best if you create your own backup of each course and download them to your computer if you would like a backup of your course. Instructions for creating your own backup are available online at: http://help.allegheny.edu/tutorials/webct/create_backup.html If you get this message after January 24, 2008, please do not panic. Instead call your Instructional Technologist, who will help you gain access to the courses you need.
