Originally posted on September 6, 2007Remember to Log Off Public ComputersIt is good practice for all members of the Allegheny community to remember to log off computers in public labs, presentation classrooms and in the library when they are finished to protect personal data. For professors, administrators and staff of the College the logging off process is imperative to make sure the computer is set for the next user. If employees leave a public computer without logging off the screensaver will start which will lock out all other users from using the computer. If you encounter a locked computer in a lab or classroom that you are scheduled to use, you can by pass the screensaver by rebooting the computer using the power button. While over time rebooting the computer in this way will take its toll, it is more computer friendly than using the reset button to reboot. Again, the best practice is to always log off the computer when you are finished using it. Posted by jfadden at September 6, 2007 9:59 AM | |
