There are two main types of computer related problems you may experience while attending Allegheny College:

Internet/Network Problems
All Internet and network related problems are handled by the Help Desk and the GatorNet office. It is important to be
at your computer and to have the computer turned on when calling the Help Desk with one of these types of problems.
The Help Desk does not have the ability to make long distance calls so if it is necessary for you to leave
voicemail for the Help Desk then you must leave a local telephone number if you want the Help Desk to return your
call. Local telephone numbers are provided at the beginning of the school year by the Telephone and ID Coordinator's
office for every student living in the dorm rooms. The Help Desk telephone number is (814) 332-2755.
Computer Problems
Allegheny College does not and will not repair student owned computers. We also do not
and will not remove viruses or spyware. Our responsibilities to students extend only to Internet and network
connection problems. All other computer issues can be dealt with by Computer Showcase.
Computer Showcase is an on campus computer reseller and repair shop that offers fee based troubleshooting and
repair to Allegheny students. They are located in Murray Hall, room 108 during their scheduled campus hours.
All Computer Showcase technicians wear company identification badges while on campus. The telephone number for their
on-campus office is (814) 332-5207. This telephone number is only answered while school is in session and during
Computer Showcase's on-campus hours.
Computer Showcase will provide students with help desk support in the following areas:
Hardware
MS Application Software
Viruses/Spyware
Internet Browsing
Computer Showcase also offers telephone based support to Allegheny students. The telephone number for this service is
(814) 332-6225 and is available during the following hours:
Monday through Friday - 8 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Saturday - 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Sunday - due to Computer Showcase company policy, they do not ask employees to work on Sunday
When calling Computer Showcase you must identify yourself as an Allegheny student and provide your student ID number
to the technician on the phone. All calls are limited to fifteen minutes per call/per incident. After fifteen minutes
of support, the Computer Showcase Customer Service Representative will ask the student if they would like to place a
billable service call with a Computer Showcase technician. If the student agrees to either an in-house and/or
an on-site service call, the Computer Showcase customer service department will schedule the repair in an adequate
time frame based on the urgency of the student's call, not to exceed three business working days (the worse case
scenario).

All network connection problems are handled by Allegheny College for free.
All non-network related problems are handled by Computer Showcase as a fee-based service.
